Ved Mathur has recently retired from the post of General
Manager in Punjab National Bank after completing almost 40 years of banking
career. He started his career in daily newspaper “Dainik Nyay†published from
Ajmer and joined banking career. But he was continuously associated with the
journalism and his hundreds of satirical and other articles, poems, talks, etc.
have been published from time to time in top magazines and newspapers. In
“Dainik Nyayâ€, his daily comedy column “Chakram†was published for years. In Ajmer
edition of “Dainik Bhaskarâ€, he wrote a column “Baradariâ€, which was based on
social issues, for many years.
Indian Banks association (IBA) selected him under Cooverji
Hormusjee Bhabha Fellowship for research on the topic “Customer Service in
Banks†and his work was awarded the first price. Punjab National Bank, Zonal
Office, Jaipur honoured him with “PNB Gaurav†award in 1996-97.
He has already authored two books, “Samne Hai Safalta†and “Mantras
To Successâ€.
During his banking career, he had wide experience of working
in small and large branches, controlling offices, Training Centres, etc. on
various positions. He also lead PNB’s Gujarat Circle as Circle Head. He has also
been General Secretary of Bank’s Officers Union in Rajasthan.
Ved Mathur is married to Dr Meenu Mathur, a Govt College
lecturer, has a son Dr Akash Mathur married with Dr Nancy Mathur and a daughter
Akanksha married with Devesh Mathur.
From the eyes of an experienced banker, this author has
presented a commentary of his journey of all parts of banking. Whether, this is
a mere imagination or a bitter truth about the minute functions of today’s
